I've been reading a lot about this and it has interested me but the reviews I've read don't give a complete rundown of the product. Anyone think this thing is worth buying as it would be cool to have HDTV on my computer. My biggest question is what channels will be available on it in HDTV. I have standard cable but I'm just not sure how this thing works so anyone else know anything more about it?

if you live somewhere that offers even a few channels its worth it cuz its so cool to watch hdtv. checkhd.com can tell you for your area what shows and channels and times that are broadcast in OTA hd.

ive had it up and running for 2 days but it doesnt seem to want to play nice with my 6800, so im still fiddling. its only on initial driver release so i wasnt expecting much. my tvwonder was never very great but with mmc 9.0 it actually got really good, so ive seen how much ati can do with software if they want too.

Where did you get it? I have been waiting for the HDTV wonder for a while. I bought a 9800pro to mate with the HDTV wonder. Can't wait to start recording my HDTV shows and try to back them up somewhere.

You have to be in an area that has HDTV broadcast over the air. Its compeletely free, but it can be a little hard to get a signal in you are not in a major centre, many places have NBC, CBS, ABC and PBS.

You can either use the included antenna if the signal is strong enough, or use a roof antenna similar to one that you might have seen many years ago.

The full list of stations and cities for the US is listed here:

i got it last week from the amazon link i posted above. i used 2 day shipping for like 8 bucks.

it was apretty good deal, buy.com shows them cheaper but wont give the shipping cost. since im in alaska i watch that real close.

ati tv wonder pro. costs 80-100$, but for 180$ you get analog/digital/and hadtv wonder tuners plus the remote wonder and the antenna .

they did put a nice package together. it should work that with an ati card you can get like PIP with your tv card.

I hear the new Dvico card can do digital cable as well. I have a Fusion IU which can only do HDTV OTA and analog cable. I use a $20 roof antenna from radioshack. The antenna just sits on the floor in my room since indoor amplified antennas couldnt pickup crap. The non amplified roof antenna gets a signal from staions 76 miles away. Its cheaper than amplified indoor antennas too. Whatever you do, dont buy a Terk antenna.

ok no terk antenna, which one would be a better idea those are the only ones i see advertised.. not that ive looked into them yet.. im still fiddling with drivers

I live in San Antonio, Texas. A major city of about 1 million people so I figure I have to get some channels.

I would have to get them through the air though because I only have standard analog cable. Will this cause some problem or not allow me to get any real use out of the HDTV Wonder?

I live in Austin TX, and seen that the local fry's has them in stock... $199 was the price on it.. it comes in a large wedge shape box....

You need to check antennaweb.org to see what channe;s you get. You should base your decisions on that info. The channels i watch are mostly free channels anyways (Wb, and fox who broadcast in DTV).

Any word if this will work nicely with nVidia cards?

Also does this work as a regular tvtuner as well or just HDTV?

http://www.ati.com/products/hdtvwonder/specs.html

It has the regular NTSC for North american cable channels, so yes it works with standard coax, it also has the S-video and composite in.

Dunno how well it works with Nvidia, but at the very least the display is supposed to work with any DX9 capable card. Recording seems to like being paired an ATI videocard though.

Its also important to note: In Canada, most cities do not have OTA HDTV. We only have CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corp) as national, and it was decided a long time ago that we would put national *free* unscrambled signals on satellites because of our low population density. So the HDTV wonder is NOT for Canadians.

Anyone actually have one that could give some feedback? I have it in my cart at newegg and I am undecided.

I am glad I didnt wait and went ahead and ordered it right away because it KICKS ASS. I have been watching the olympics today on my 23" LCD and I am very impressed.
