The ambient temp of the room my PC (check specs in Sig) was 80F last night. I have 2 x 120mm fans in my case (one exhaust one intake) and I was running 3D mark 2005 last night. I got booted out of the test midway through and the ATI Catalyst control center popped up saying that my card was above safe temps and will throttle back. I checked the temp of the card and it said it was 80c!!!!!!!!
Now I don't know if that is a safe operating temp--i would assume not since the CCC sensed the temp was high.
The card idles between 50-55c -- is that normal?
Do you think any damage was done since it hit 80c?
Would I benefit by getting an aftermarket VGA cooler like the Arctic Cooler 5 rev2 for ATI?
Granted, that having the machine in a room that is 80F is not helpful, but I do not have a choice -- it's the only room in the house I can use for my PC.
Any thoughts or comments are very much appreciated.
Thank you.
