well i have been reading all the posts regarding ati vs nvidia and i must share my 2 cents. i have had a 9800pro 128 for about 4 months. everything seems fine until i play my favorite multiplayer game (no one lives forever 2). my game play always seems slow. all other players run faster than me. they are able to switch weapons, reload and shoot faster than me. i experience times when i am shooting them at point blank range with multiple clips of ammo and they don't die. they then turn around and kill me with a single shot. it's not a skill issue as i am one of the top players.

i have done everything i could think of: latest catalyst, latest chipset drivers, all windows updates and so on. my online connection is extremely fast. my download speed is 8 mb and my upload speed is 1.5 mb (no bs). my pings range anywhere from 19 to 50. my 3dmark03 score is around 5800-6000.

i went out today and purchased an fx5700 ultra. i installed it, formatted and reinstalled everything. to my surprise the game played much better and my scores improved (alot). this with a card that benchmarked almost half.

i then put the radeon back in, formatted and reinstalled everything again and got the same shitty game play as before. wtf. i don't know what else to do.

either something is seriously wrong with my card (benchmarks are all good) or benchmarks don't mean shit. i am not liking this card and i am sorry i purchased it. sorry for the long post. i need to vent.

btw. when i questioned most people i gamed with, most had systems with a third to half the power as mine and they all had better performance.

i have used almost every driver from 3.1 to 4.1. i have also tried omega's and dna's drivers. you name the scenario and i have done it.

dude.. currently I am playing contract jack.. based off the nolf2 engine and it hovers usually around 50-85 fps on my computer.. never had a slowdown with catalyst 3.4 driver set.. I seriously do not know why you are having problems with your card.. coz you have quite a nice system there and it should be able to handle things well.. try fast writes off.. if you get stuttering..

also try running things at stock and then see.. i had stuttering when i ran at 2.6 ghz and when backed down all was good..

more information regarding your setup might help.. e.g. does your monitor support the refresh rate you are running and so on..
