What is the warranty on a BBA Retail 9700 pro? Also, can ati tell if atitool was used to overclock, even if the original settings were reapplied before the card died? I wouldn't attempt this, but I'm a broke college student and can't afford a new video card.

no shame, i'll tell you it's not right, but i'd probably do the same thing...

ATi Warranty Statement per their site
ATI Technologies Inc. warrants to the original purchaser of the hardware that the product is in good working condition, according to its specifications at the time of shipment, for a period of one to five years from the date of original purchase. The warranty term depends on the product. RADEON 7000 and newer products have a three year warranty. DV Wonder cards have a two year warranty. The Remote Wonder has a one year warranty. All other ATI products have a five year warranty.
Sounds like 3 years?

Yeah the card is toast. On boot up before the bios even the screen is all pink with snow and green streaks. If I leave the computer off for a minute it works fine for a bit then screws back up. My first thought was the onboard fan, but it's working just fine. The card is just fubar.

sucks :(

I did something similar to my 9500 n/p... and now i'm thinking about buying a 9.8k series card... i'm seriously considering the DELL style OEM 256 mb radeon (ddrI)

I'm pretty sure that they've got a 3 year warrantee.

While I do consider it dishonest to RMA a card after overclocking, I don't think they'd really be able to tell, as long as the thing isn't scorched or anything. ;)

Best of luck dude.

It's a good thing I have a laptop or I'd be out of commission. I put my authentic Mitchell and Ness football jersey on ebay, if it sells I'll buy a 256mb 9800 pro and flash to XT.

This sucks.

I hope you feel well soon, and make sure to be more careful next time you OC your video card.....if there is a next time. ;)

It's a shame that some people have to learn things like this the hard way. Nothing personal though, I'm not after you at all.....I AM sorry for what happened.

R.I.P. :(

just go to the ati rma page pop in your card serial numbers and they will email you RMA instructions.

got mine back after 7 days ( they shipped me a brand new 9500pro)

Do what you want and I hope it works out for you, I just think that I'd feel kinda "dirty" If I got ATI to send me a new card after I was the one who "killed" it.

Up to you, I await the good news.

Good luck, I tried to RMA a card eons ago to those people...they drug me thru hell for about 2 weeks. This is why I wont ever deal with them again...bad taste in my mouth.
However RMAing because you broke it...is bad mojo..and makes us legit usesr pay more in the end....and before anyone tries to say "oh youve never RMAed something you broke" Ill say this...NO I havent...

Warranties are there for a reason. its built in the cost. I didnt OC and burn up the card or defraud the company. I just bought it off someone who didnt want to wait for an RMA.
