I hope Nvidia kicks ATI's ass. God..I am tired of hearing how good ATI is. Its like every thread I read suports ATI over Nvidia overall. I am a NVIDIA owner and the drivers seem fine to me and so does its performance in games such as cs halo rise of nations and unreal tournment!

Do you want to see Nvidia outperform ATI OR VICE VERSa? Cast your opinion and reasons here plz.:D

Nvidia because two successive failures on the part of the same company is bad for the industry as a whole. the best would be them both being evenly matched, as that would initiate price wars and also spur development of new products, both of which benifit the consumer.

i own a gf2 mx 420 and 440 and they suck [duh] the nvidia drivers suck since they take over your computer. i have a 9800se and a 9600xt and i love them since they kick ass and the drivers kick ass too.

i think nvidia needs to have the drivers seprate from the control panel like ati.

also i had a ti and a cap blew so i took it back and have been with ati since and i think ati rules.

why are you asking for a flame war here? that is what it is going to be

I like the card that will give me the best gaming experience. Right now it's ATI, but that could change soon.

I have three Nvidia cards and three ATI cards in my junk box so it's a drawing in my mind.

we aren't talking about which company will win or which to buy, we are talking about who should win.

Why? It's a piece of hardware.

If NVIDIA brings us new, faster technology, we should be happy.
If ATI brings us new, faster technology, we should be happy.

Just think if ATi DID win the preformance battle over nVidia, what would that be? A couple years in a row now?

Name a time there was a price war the past 5 years in the video card industry. Regardless of competition, buyers are gouged for the max the video card companies think they can get away with. ATi 9800 XT was $499 on release. It blew away the 5950 in some things and had better IQ. The 5950 was $499. What did competition get us there? ATi and NVIDIA's new stuff will most likely be, yep, $499! Competition does *NOT* always mean lower prices. I live in California. Electricity was deregulated 3 years ago and now my bill is 3x higher with the same KW/hr useage. When there was a monopoly the bill was CHEAP. Can you imagine if there wasn't an OS monopoly? Yeah, I'd love quad booting through OS's to run all the programs I wanted. Software devs would love it too. Monopolies can be GOOD for the consumer. Thank god there is only one cable company. Would you like it if 10 companies came in and dug up your street and laid cable?

It would be nice if they were equal. That way the fanboy crap could be laid to rest and everyone could get the card from the company they prefered with the drivers they prefer.

I know it's a fantasy. :)

If you want an indication of why there might be a price war it is in the fact that both ATI and Nvidia are rushing parts to market that aren't the most economically viable, the size of the dies of the nv40 and r420 makes them significantly more expensive to design and make than earlier designs. also the speed with which they hope to ramp these cards suggests that they both want complete market dominance and are willing to sacrifice some profit margins to get it. I suspect that with quality parity they will get out the price hammer like AMD and Intel always do when AMD catches up to / supercedes intel.
