ATI & nVidia on Intel Chipset

I was curios as to whether or not anyone has been able to run two different video cards on one system, with one of the cards being a ATI card, and the other being a nVidia card.

The system I was going to run this on was a Intel 975X Asus Motherboard, Intel Pentium D 960 CPU and 2GB of memory. Not sure which Operating System, Vista or XP, I'd prefer Vista because the GPU's don't use so much CPU overhead. But that's all up to what other people have experienced.

So, if you have done this before, I'd greatly appreciate any help in how you got that to work!!!
 
Never heard of it outside of the recently announced test lab (some company pushing their (video blancing/mix&match/wonder hardware). I recall reading about the incompatibility for the OS to properly address each card with competing drivers (hence SLI or CrossFire).

If it can be done, I'd be amazed.
 
Yeah, I heard about that hardware solution, but I'm not talking about doing it for SLI or CrossFire, I'm just talking about having two separate cards in the same box, with their own drivers and everything, and letting a copy of Folding@Home GPU run for each card.
