The new 1.10 core will let the gpu client run on old Athlon xp systems, on a 3650 ATI AGP 1900PPD has been reported on the new big WU's, it has also been reported the new core will let the gpu client run on pci cards for around 300PPD beats a single cpu client!

"Sorry, I forgot to dig up the old thread about SSE2 being needed to say that we fixed this now. Hopefully this can breath new life into older AGP machines. Do note that for smaller proteins the older CPUs will be CPU limited, but you can probably get much higher PPD running the GPU2 ATI client in those machines than a uniprocessor client."

Thanks for the info! I have a couple of dual XP-M machines with an AGP slot that can stand to benefit from a GPU client. The only question remains is it worth 'upgrading' these machines when for the same investment we can acquire an nVidia card that produces twice as much. I still see a HD3850 selling for well over $100 used, so it's not the best deal when an 8800GT is available for a similar price. I guess it's good for those who don't have enough funds to replace their machines with a modern system that has PCI-E including the cost of the video card. Nevertheless, a big thanks goes out to M. Huston for granting additional life to old systems that can use all the help.

dual XP-M I remember those It was my dream machine LOL You know in the begining of the SMP someone had one of those and on some unit it beat the Pentium D LOL

Indeed, I still get ~650PPD on P30xx SMP WUs in Windows on these machines. Obsolete yes, well ahead of their time during their heyday, absolutely!
