ati driver control problem

All my games are really really dark.

Even 3dmark01, havent tried 03 since its still downloading.

I have the color profile set for 3d to make it brighter, like the curve is exactly the same as my desktop curve.

But its like my games are totally ignoring this setting and just doing whatever.

I have tried to adjust the brightness in games, it does help some but in 3dmark its still really dark. Like the max payne scen all you see are the gun flares and when he is shooting and it lights up his face a little.

I am running the cat 4.2's but I have also run 3.9, 3.10, 4.1 its the same with all these versions.

I know its not the monitor because I can plug it into my geforce card in my other box and it works just fine.

Anyone else have these issues that could give me some pointers?
 
i've tried Cat 4.2 on two PCs and it seems that the Gamma correction is broken in these drivers. works fine in 4.1. i tried both stock ATI drivers and Omega drivers, and even W1zzard's drivers - same shit. go back to 4.1 and it'll be fine.
 
ok will try them out again, but i swore I was still having the same problem.
