ATI display with nvidia ppu???

Forgive me but the PPU board gets no traffic, besides I thought you guys would be more up on ATI hardware..

So I am running VISTA and I am thinking about moving to the 4870x2 but I sure would like to get some mileage from my old nvidia card....Does anybody know if I would be able to run an nvidia card as a ppu while using an ATI card as the primary display device? I have heard that VISTA will not load drivers for both brands at the same time.

Somebody has got to have tried this.
 
Yep tried it and might as well ask to SLI the pair. MS in their infinite wisdom decided that the user doesent need to have two different video drivers loaded up in Vista. You can however do this in XP, but having a 4870, and a 8800GTS 640 I have not been able to see much of a benefit yet, and XP x64 would fail to load the nvidia drivers and BSOD everytime I tried to force the issue. So you are pretty much not going to see a benefit unless you use all nvidia hardware.
 
Thanks agmarly, I was afraid of that...oh well, either ATI will get in gear with the CUDA support or nVidia will release a faster card...one way or the other we still win...just more of the waiting game for now I guess.
