ATI Crossfire benchmarks...

not really impressed, considering that you have to purchase the master gpu from ati directly, which i'm sure will be a huge premium.

plus by the time crossfire comes out, i'm sure sli components will go down in price,...I say it's still early to say since there is no definite date as to when crossfire will be readily available and the price point will be set at a conventional price

sing the same 3800+ CPU, the 6800 Ultra SLI system managed a score of 9829 in 3DMark05 - surprisingly slightly above that of the Crossfire results we’ve just witnessed. However, it’s important to note that the system we saw wasn’t finely tuned at all (it used early Catalyst 5.6 beta drivers) – in fact, they’d only just put it together when we walked through the door. Further, 3DMark05 is known to favour nVidia cards, so it’ll be interesting to see some results using other benchmarks."

NVidia wins, but the drivers from ATI were 'not finely tuned' - It is an exciting time to see the two graphics giants in a real neck and neck race.

I wasn't a member back in the FX5900 vs. 9800 days...um...did we still argue so much when there was a clear winner - unlike today where there are real debatable points about who is better?

Today is more like:
Did you see X850 owns the 6800U?
Not in Doom 3!
Doom 3 sux, look at the HL2 benchies
What about SLI?
ATI will bitch slap SLI with Crossfire
Ah, by a small margin, MAYBE, but what about SM3.0?
SM3 is a pig until the next gen cards.
The G70 is going to .... and so on

Nice ot finally see some good comp! Looks cool...but that jsut 3dmark. I would hope to god the crossfire X850s would take 2 ultra easy in real benchmarks. I mean come on, the dual ultras is how old now?

IM drooling over anyhting with 2 videocards right now... I wans somethign new to come out so i can get my hands on a cheap 6800GT PCIe.

Doom 3 performance.

The performance of the solution was equally impressive; at 1024x768 the dual GPU CrossFire setup improved performance by 49%. At 1280x1024 and 1600x1200 the performance went up by 72% and 86% respectively. We had our doubts that ATI would be able to offer performance scaling on par with what we've seen on NVIDIA's SLI but these initial numbers, despite being run on early hardware/drivers, are quite promising.

Nice..

i find it kind of funny that the article says

Further, 3DMark05 is known to favour nVidia cards, so it’ll be interesting to see some results using other benchmarks

lol what a load of crap. For the past 5 product cycles ATI has always come out on top with 3DMark

I do find it funny that ATI is kinda boasting the fact that it has no selector card as a great advantage.

A. What the big deal with fliping the little card? Its not liek you do it offen...
B. Without it you need that terminator card...WHAT IS THE DIFFRENCE?
C. I think the flip card looks cool, and i cant wait to be able to flip mine!

God this is cool stuff though..! I love it!
