ati catalyst + windows vista

ive tried numerous times to install ati catalyst and gotten nowhere. i get to the install screen and it says catalsy install manager has stopped working? anyone have any idea how to fix this?

oh im using a agp x800 gto video card.
 
What about just the driver on it's own without the catalyst, you could try downloading atitraytools instead of the cat.
 
I have a similar problems with Vista64. I've tried loading new versions of catalyst and the drivers alone and have not been very successful. Also is there a way to disable the auto driver install with vista? Every time I clean the drivers it automatically installs older drivers when try to add the drivers through the device manager.

Your best bet then, I guess would be to install the standalone display driver and install ati traytools to handle ur catalyst features.
 
Goddamnit...just update your drivers and fix a search through a proper search...I don't get why you guys are making it so complicated installing only custom parts of the drivers package
 
I have Vista and have ATI Catalyst installed and working just fine, didn't have to jump through any hoops either.
 
No problems with CCC or drivers under Vista 64-bit with my 4850. My Creative drivers were a whole different story.
 
I managed to get the catalyst and drivers from the Visiontek website to load no problem. They are version 8.06. It seems the newer the drivers the more difficult I have loading them. I will try some of the suggestions you were nice enough to give, to get newer drivers to load. Thanks for your help. - nox
