Here I am again, back after 2 years and still working on this mod on end. That I have decided to give some new life of a mod that I started here on 10-25-2006.

The link to said mod before I left onto to better and greener pastures:
http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1113310

Things have changed since then, It is a static display with no motorized parts to make it move. My health since last year went downhill, I had a seizure that sent me to the hospital. I went to another country for treatment and between allergies it kept me from finishing it within last year. My health has gotten better since, but allergies still keep me indoors some days.

Well enough for my life since then, I have been making headway since then:
The webcam:

Became mounted in the head along with the 802.11n Antenna:

Which became a full fledged head with a few minor details missing:

It now is accompanied by 2 other outer lower feet:

One leg that was:

Now is two partial completed legs:

Inner where legs will mount to frame:

I have work tomorrow more on the mod.

Subscribed, this looks like it will get a nice end result.

Thanks!

I had to redo the neck section with something that looks like the R5 astromech neck piece. I repainted the lower body section also.

Most of the colored panels were mounted by 2 sided foam tape.

I'll update in a few days also.

Bookmarked this. can't wait to see it finished!

Ahh! why thanks!

Here is an update:
I went around looking at this mod scratching my head asking myself what have I gotten wrong. The wrong is that this mod is starting to look just about every other astromech droid that the astromech builders club is building.

So I needed to balance the look of a computer mod and the look of an droid into one. I threw out some of the ideas I had borrowed from other astromech builders and shaped my own.

The rounded rectangle ports on the front of the mod was thrown out for something simple and modern. And I ran out of paint that day and it got a flat black on it, hope to repaint it tomorrow.

The battery boxes that hang underneath each of the outer legs was thrown out to make for a better and simple radiator box, since my budget has since shriveled up and died.

So I introduce to you battery box 2.0 or radiator box revamped:

More updates later!!

Looks good. I can't wait to see it finished.

Thanks for looking?!

I have assembled one of the legs and still have some minor details left on it. I have yet to start assembling the other leg, but here is what I have for an update.

More updates till later...

You have no exhaust holes on the radboxes

On the first box, no I have no exhaust holes on the box, I built it quick and I will redo it with a mesh on the front.

First box I slapped together, No exhaust holes

Hi and welcome to another round of updates tonight.
Some of you may be wondering how did I stealth the tubing in the legs and the fan cable in the legs?

I worked more on the front of the mod, placed a 4-port usb hub in the first bay, second external bay will a dvd burner. I have still yet to work more on the details of the front again.

Next updates will be major updates, like head attachment, and legs attachment, then component installation.

Cool stuff dude, keep it up!

Thanks for the comment, but for now I have to put this mod on hold for awhile.

Sorry for not updating this lately, I was out of the country for 2 months from November to December. I was in Taiwan getting my wife ready to come to the US.

Again at the mod again, I had a minor set back on the mod.

The frame wasn't going as well as planned, I needed to lighten the frame, so I was able to join the astromech club site that builds the astromech droids and was able to find the templates for a newer frame made of plywood instead of MDF.

I'm more going for the professional look than trying to pull a pattern out of my head. I still have six more pieces to cut today to finish the frame.

I have the first layer skins cut, so sooner or later I will have them mounted as well. Sorry, no pictures at the moment, but that will come soon too.

I might as well update this and I'm bumping this up again. I have reworked the frame, put on the front skins, finished the framework on the new head also. So far it has come out great!

Here is the new body:

And the new framework on the new head:

I figured that I might as well finish the whole chassis before I even attempt to think of what computer components to put inside, If I even put any computer components inside.

Figured I have to do something, I'm unemployed and I'm doing the best with what I got.
