hi,

i'm having trouble w/ asio in foobar w/ my x-fi. I am using the latest creative drivers.
basically, it works for awhile, but every once in awhile foobar just crashes.

im not sure i understand exactly how asio works. basically, i have some 5.1 dts files i want to output to me receiver. if i don't do asio i just get static.

The newest version of foobar is not compatible with the X-Fi. Use foobar 8.3 if you want to use ASIO.

ah so its nothing to do with vista then. i'll check it out, thanks.

i think it is a vista issue since now that i think about it i have had the latest foobar working with asio and xfi on xp in the past.

well i d/led the .8.3 and then got the plugin called:

foo_output_asio(dll)_051_7.rar - Intel required - best with "Direct Input Monitor" activated

and i get when i play:
INFO (CORE) : startup time: 78 ms
INFO (CORE) : opening file for playback :
INFO (CORE) : location: "file://xxx.flac" (0)
INFO (foo_output_asio(dll)) : open : 44100 Hz, LINEAR PCM, 16 bits, 2 channels
INFO (foo_output_asio(dll)) : ASIO device type [channel 0] : Int32LSB
INFO (foo_output_asio(dll)) : ASIO device type [channel 1] : Int32LSB
ERROR (foo_output_asio(dll)) : unsupported output data format.

do i have the wrong plugin?

**Fixed** -- needed to select 32bit output under playback.

Thanks man, everything looks to be working fine now.
