I was wondering where I can place blowholes on the Aria. I've tried to look for pictures where I can see the clearance but no luck. If anyone has a modded Aria with 80mm blowholes, please post pictures, inside and out :). Thanks.

thats a huuge help. A few questions tho. What heatsink is that? Looks like SLK-700? Also are those standard size 80mm fans? Was there any problems fitting them in? Thanks

edit: also, what is THE best heatsink + fan that can fit in this for Socket A. Since that looks like an SLK-700 and it barely fits, I'm going to assume a SLK-900-A with a Vantec Tornado won't fit.

Thought i'd show off my little mod too; 480 watt 1U PSU and a completely unrestricted 120mm rear exhaust (aside from the honey comb grill built into the Aria, still far less restrictive than the crappy ventilation on the proprietary Aria PSU)

Don't mind the very messy cabling ;) Its hard to take the amount of cable attached to this 1U PSU and make it look good... trust me. It may not look like much, but thats because a lot of it is hiding under the card reader.

That looks like it frees up alot of room for a new heatsink and fan for the cpu. I was wondering how much was that new powersupply and how many PCI slots did it take up. Also what are your specs and temps like? Thanks

Yes... much more room for a bigger HSF :D 2 PCI slots were taken up, but I did not need them as all I need is 1 for my Audigy and my AGP slot for my X800Pro. Nothing that I have found yet gets my temps correctly for the Gigabyte in there... they fluctuate a LOT in mbm.

The PSU was $130 I believe

Once I get some more money my way I may buy one of those PSU's, I'm going to assume its a server psu. Thanks

Its a 1U PSU for a 1U chassis (1U chassis are used for servers, yes. Though it would be interesting to see somebody use a 1U chassis for a workstation :p )

Nightfall, that is a wonderful mod! Where on God's green earth did you find a 480w 1u PSU??? Any idea where I could find a mATX one? :D

That mod would have been so perfect if it did not take up the PCI slots! :( Damn! Would definitely work for alot of people though.

My Mods to the ARIA:
Took out crappy Antec 300W power supply. Hacksawed and pounded a normal 450w TTGI into it's place. Looks terrible, barely fits, but it's on the inside what counts, right? ;)

Added 2*120mm fans to the sides and later added 1*80x80x10mm fan over the CPU.

Here's a pic before I added the 80mm:

The 120mm "fit", but it's tight. The one on the right cuts into the bottom of the memory slots so I had to sand down the lower edge. Not a big deal. The one on the left prevents you from installing an extra long PCI card into the last socket. Otherwise not a big deal. Oh and I also had to hack off sections of the sides of the CD-ROM tray. :) Last problem for me was that I placed it so close to the edges of the case that the ThermalTake A2018 fan variable resistor can get pinched off, requiring me to use my pitiful soldering skills to weld it back together. I would have chosen a different fan had I known it was going to be a problem.

Ultimately it allows me to overclock nearly as well as an aircooled normal size case and quietly.

If you are wondering where I bought the PSU

Here is my thread on ProCooling, click where it says Etasis 480 watt 1U PSU
Thanks :D Hefty price tag, but you can't argue with the dual 12V rail. I wonder if the PCB is as long as the casing or if you could not hack it in half... Too expensive for me to consider at this point, but if that would let you recover the lost PCI slots, which would prove to be an even better mod for you and other builders... How noisy is that little fan?

If noise is an issue for you, you may want to reconsider :p

One other thing; the mobo connector is 24 pin so make sure that you have enough room the the left of your motherboard connector for 4 extra pins to hang off.
