Areca 1261ML issues

Just got my Areca raid controller from Ebay, plugged it in, connected all my drives, got into the BIOS a few times, now, every time I power on the system, it POSTS and then the ARECA message comes up waiting for firmware and it counts down from 300s, if I press Tab/F6 it shows <Tab/F6> in red at the top of the screen, but won't go into the BIOS, after it finishes counting down, it reboots, wash rinse, repeat, how do I get into the BIOS of this card?
 
If you disconnect the drives does it make any difference? What motherboard brand, model and BIOS revision are you using? Which slot is your Areca in and what other PCIe cards are in the machine?
 
Thanks for the reply, looks like a few of the drives were not properly connected, after reseating the SATA connectors, it booted properly and gave me the option to enter the BIOS, except for the fact that I have one failed drive (didn't seem to be failed before) its all good now, thanks.
