I ordered 2x Western Digital 74gb raptors from monarch computer to run in raid.

They sent me these 2, which have 2 completely different labels...

Will they work in raid? Or eventually corrupt my data and give me a heart attack..
Or give me a lifetime of errors and crashes?
 
I'd be fucking PISSED if they sent me a drive OEMed for apple like the one on the right
 
I'd expect they'll work just fine... Apple drives aren't anything special. The catch is WD may not cover the warranty on the Apple drive. They might tell you to send it back to Apple. That'd be f'n annoying unless you're putting it in a Mac. I'd call up WD support and ask.
 
Physically the drives should be the same.

If they are different then the controller will just default the pair to the smaller sized drive.

Example...
I've got 2 40 giggers in a raid-0, the catch is that 1 is 39.2Gb and the other is 41.1 because they are different models of a WD 40Gb drive. The array says that it has 78.4Gb because the array defaulted to the smaller size drive 2 X 39.2 = 78.4 instead of 80.3

Other than that it should work fine.

And WD will honor it's warrenty reguardless of the OEM it was intended for.

That question isn't even part ot their RMA process.

You can check the warrenty on their support website just to make sure, just for shits and giggles.
