Arctic Thermal Pad Thickness

I would use thermal paste instead. Even at 0.5mm, it is likely insulating somewhat.
 
Would sitting on these reduce swamp ass during those long gaming sessions?
 
These are not for CPUs, unless you are talking for a Pi or something. Pads have a fraction of the thermal conductivity of paste. Also pads are much thicker and you want thinner, as thin as possible while still filling all the air pockets. Pads are used for gap filling on RAM or VRM chips and the like, where there might be a higher variation in component height or on something like a GPU HS or block where the HS covers the GPU core and RAM/VRM, as such you need something to fill the gaps at the RAM/VRM chips often sit lower than the GPU core.
