Hey guys i have an arctic silencer on my 9800pro and it runs pretty damn hot 65C, and thats idle... =\

I was wondering if there are ne mods i could do to the silencer to make it cool better or something like that....... help me out

and yeah its on the high speed

lap the heatsink?
I just got my silencer in the mail yesterday and the surface was terrible. Now it's got a mirror shine.

Maybe try reinstalling the thing and tighten the screws properly.
I'm using a Silencer w/ Ceramique on my 9800Pro and under load, temps never go above 55°C.

well people usually use a external temp probe, but i havea 9800pro with a r360 so i flashed it with an XT bios and view the temps via atitool

Does this unit have a fan that mounts right above the core? It seems that, like the stock cooling, it has a fun "embedded" in the heatsink as the fins are cut away to fit it flush with the rest of the sink. I don't think this makes for effective cooling, you essentially have a paper thin piece of aluminum sitting between your core and fan.

I recommend a low-profile copper cooler and a decent 70mm fan. Use the shim around the core to epoxy the cooler on. My Pro doesn't overclock great no matter what I do to it (415 core) but that's a limitation of my particular chip.

Wow that's hot. Mine has never been above 42c, core O/C to 430. Ambient as high as 30c.
Using AS5. I would say pull it all apart, clean, re-install.
As far as mods I've heard of people unplugging the A.C. fan, ripping it out, and strapping on a 60mm with a fan controller.

Hey... when i install the VGA silencer.. should i use the thermal paste it comes with or AS5?

Think about that for 1/2,000 of a second and the answer should come to you.

As for my temps, it's a 9500 and I don't have any external temp sensor, so I won't be able to find out the temperatures.

It will fit on the A7N8X-E Deluxe, I have the A7N8X Deluxe, no problems. Follow the instructions for the installation, and you'll be okay.
