ARC-1882IX-24 SSD Array Question

Came across a lot of people who seem vary knowledgeable about areca cards and wanted to post a question in regards to making an ssd array on my card.

I have several arrays with spinning drives on this card already but I wanted to move my ssd array off of the motherboard onto the card. I know certain options on the card bios might pertain more to spinning drives opposed to ssds but I am not sure which ones I should change to get better performance out of the ssds and also which ones I should change that might cause problems. Any input and suggestions is appreciated thank you for any help.

The first question is what is the configuration (quantity, brand & model) of your array, what is its purpose (OS, database, media, etc) and what platform is the card installed into?
 
Sorry about that. There will be 4x512GB Samsung 830 Series ssds. It will be for my windows 8.1 OS and programs. The board is an Asus P9X79-E WS board.
 
I personally wouldn't do it, utilizing drives that were not designed to be used in a hardware RAID is only asking for trouble. Who knows they may work for a while, but most likely at somepoint, you are going to experience timeouts which will cause the controller to fail the drive and degrade the array.

A simple google search will show you people experiencing this very issue with samsung SSDs in a RAID attached to a dedicated controller.

You are also most likely going to loose TRIM support configuring like this since the OS no longer has control over the drives.
 
I have not had any issues on the x79 controller but maybe that is because it is more a software raid then a true hardware raid. Real reason why I wanted to move off of the onboard controller was because just in quick and dirty testing I was able to more than double my throughput on the 1882 compared to the x79 controller.
