We implemented a ARC-1231 with raid6 using 512MB cache running 6 WD RE 2TB drives.

We're only getting about 30MB write speeds on the system. Normally we're just using for backup data so it isn't much of an issue but we really would like to see increased performance if possble. drives are wired with SATA breakout cables as supermicro backplane wasnt working properly, ARC-1231 couldn't see the drives connected.

firmware version: 1.49 2010-12-02
background task priority: 50% medium
RAID configuration
Max SATA mode: SATA300
HDD read ahead cache: enabled
volume data read ahead: normal
Disk Write chache mode: enabled
Disk Capacity truncation mode: multiples of 10G

RAID 6 in normal state
stripe size: 128KB
block size: 512B
Cache mode: write back
Tagged Queuing: enabled

We're currently using the server for a email migration and the write speed is severely slowing the performance of our ability to use the system effectively.

Is there a setting that is incorrect? I'm thinking we might need to replace the controller with another one and dedicate this to only backups and other tasks that don't need higher performance.
