Hey i just got this p4 1.6a system running very sweet and cool (BTW the jet engine is mad cool hehehe), so i overclocked it to 2.0ghz stable but when i raise it to 2.2 it wont boot, i want to up the voltage but this cheapo mobo doesnt have options to do so. Anyway i can get to increase the volts with windows or sumthin?

i believe you need to do it through the bios unless you have uguru technology that allows you to change system configurations through real time in a windows enviornment.

Jumpers perhaps? Look in your manual for info, but there may be jumpers to change voltage.

i dunno if there's a pinmod for p4 cpus to up voltage... google it...

you could always just voltmod the board;)

You can manually set the Vid bits on the voltage controller of your particular mobo, or use a pot to alter the reference voltage the controller uses for the error amplifier comparison. The Vid mod is really simple, just look up the datasheet for your regulator, find the Vid table, and short some pins. This is analogous to the lame ass wire wrapping mod on the CPU pins, but not quite as ghetto and unreliable. I did a mod a while back where I soldered a 4 way dipswitch to the upper Vid bits to make it manually configurable on a mATX board that lacked bios options. Sadly the hosted pics are gone...

Here's some links to common P4 voltage controllers:

Just look up the Vid table and wire the bits high and low as you desire, or do a dipswitch mod for total control.

EDIT: found the old thread, pics are gone tho
