bonkrowave said:Why would you pay so much extra for an ultra when you can just buy a GT and overclock it to ultra speeds..
And the argumen that you can further overclock an ultra doesn;t work seeing as how GT's are basically underclocked ultras.
Yeah, I have no idea why someone would bother getting an Ultra, they do overclock a little more, but not by a reliably higher margin.
Most GT's are getting like 395-425 core and 1100-1200 memory
Ultra's might be getting like 430-450 core and 1150-1250 memory
Just some average guestimate #'s from what I've seen there are exceptions on both that may do 460-500Mhz core and 1300 memory ,etc... but on average the GT is RIGHT behind the Ultra, definitely not a $100+ difference and when availability and price gouging is factored in there's definitely NO reason to buy an Ultra.
$100 MSRP difference, but real world you can find GT's readily available from $350-400 and Ultras are $550-650+ most places IF they're in stock.
So its more like a 60% more expensive price for 5% more performance if that.
