Anyone here have the Moto Z9?

Wife just got one and really likes it, but the battery doesn't seem to last nearly as long as her old Razr.

Is the lower battery a function of the 3G network capability, or could there be an issue with the phone? Her Razr used to get about 4-5 days on a charge, the Z9 only about 2 with the same amount of usage.

Which Razr did she have? There are 7 different models here.

In any case, 2G does indeed use less power than 3G. Sometimes a LOT less. Look at the Razr2 V8. It's 2G. The Razr2 V9 is 3G and it's battery life dropped way down, though it could be due to other factors.

My phone is advertised as having 6 hr 50 min talk time on 2G. It drops to 4 hr 30 min on 3G. About 66% the talk time on 3G as opposed to 2G.

You also have to take into account other things like the efficiency of the chip designs, the extra capabilities of the newer handset, power draw of the screens, etc...
