Ive heard of that weird problem with the Laing DDC's (Swiftech MCP350 Low profile) where it will randomely not turn on unless you smack it a few times. I shut down myc omp the other say and the pump failed to turn on, i tried again and no go....

Finally i got it working by slamming it against my 5.25" bay a few times. Anyone else having this problem? think i should RMA or are all of these pumps like this?
 
There was a bad batch of ddc's that made it to market, sounds like you got one of them. Laing, the manufacturer of the pumps will replace it free of charge. Send your retailer an email about the situation...
 
i've had mine for a couple of weeks and yet to have issues with it. I love it's compact sexiness and litterally invisible to the ear inside my case..... But ya, before purchasing I did my research on this problem. It is in fact a manufacterers defect.. Something that has to do with the magnetized rotors or whatnot.
 
Just got mine running a few minutes ago, it seems it's funky... but once you have the water flowing normally and all filled up, then its fine.
 
I called dnagerden and supposidly this is the new revision, but it still does it sometimes. Oh well...
 
Ya, I just added a Maze4 GPU block to my loop, so I drained my system and refilled it after the addition. I had some problems getting it refilled. Since there was no water in the pump itself, it had troubles getting going.
 
it happened to my DDC b4. i have to smack it b4 it turns on again. i have dun some experiments and found out the cause of this pump failiure. this pump failure is caused by the low flow on the pump inlet. i put a clamp on the inlet hose to stop some flow and the pump doesnt turn on until i smack it. and when i remove the clamp, run the pump for about 10hrs, turn it off and then turn it back on again. it works again.
 
Well, I am trying an experiment with the old version of the DDC (the faulty one), I just recent modified my barbs on them to allow 1/2" high flow. It has yet to fail on me. Then again my systems only been running for a little while.

I have a revision sitting next to me, I was supposed to test it for Laing, but I didn't put it in my system (sorry), so i'll test it for them next when I have to clean out my system...

... Don't get the wrong impression Top Nurse. The DDC is a very high performing pump when you mod it for a half inch barb. Trust me. There is a definite increaes in performance since I did that, it took all of 20 minutes to mod too. Then I had to wait for the epoxy to dry. That was it.

So the mod fixes the starting problem?
 
So far yes, I have yet to get a problem with the pump not starting. Not only that, but I increased my flow and placement of the pump at the same time.

*Edit* By the way, this is on the old version of the pump, I have a revision next to me, but didn't install it =\ sorry Laing, next time I drain my system, that one goes in for sure!
 
i changed my 650 for a 350 newer revision, tested it out of the loop with water of course, it worked so i modded it, and installed it on my system, so far so good, i love the pump, small and silent(compared to the 650) yet powerfull.

Someone said a few posts up that they have a new revision DDC and it still has the same problem?

Then I'd say it's not a new revision, regardless of what you're being told.
 
laing should let the ppl know which are the new revision and how to identify it

RMAing HDDs isnt

(even though they wouldnt be in that bay)
