I just bought an Antec P180 and an OCZ 520 Modstream PSU and coupled them with an Abit IC7-G. And ran into this…

Damn-It!.jpg

My 6800 isn’t going to work with that, Ohh well 12v 4 pin Extension here I come.

Just a note to anyone looking to combine any of the said parts. :)

Hmm... I had the exact opposite feelings, the length of the 12V 4-pin cable isn't horrible, and my particular board has that plug high on it, that and the fact that this cases PSU placement is nonstandard. In order to get the cables to flex properly all I had to do was bend them back and forth a couple times and they went right were I wanted them to go.

I originally had this PSU in a Chieftec TA-10BD full tower case which is significantly bigger than my new P180 and I didn't have any length/positioning problems whatsoever in that case. However if you were going to put this PSU in a smaller case I could see the stiffness of the cables becoming an issue.

If you want a few extra mm's of cable there, try twisting the side with all the cables on it, the psu. like, the whole bundle. It'll sorta 'rotate' to be a few mm's closer. and if it has JUSt a bit of slack in it, it can go Under your video card.

I am about an inch too short  :p, and about two if I don’t want to put any strain on the plug. $3.37 including shipping for a 12V 4pin extension is money well spent to relieve stress on the board.

I had to buy a new Antec PSU for my P180...old Thermaltake did not come close to reaching the ATX connector. :( Oh well, at least I have a nice PSU outta the deal though. :)

Maybe I'm a bastard, but I laughed out loud when I saw that pic, don't ask me why. I have the same PSU and I agree the cables are way too stiff, but once they are all installed then it's not a big deal anymore (set it and forget it!).
