in my htpc, ive had it for over a year i think... was playing mlb 2k9 and POOF, flash to black. motherboard light still comes on, but nothing as far as powerup. ive left the psu switched off and unplugged for two hours and tried again, no change.

to further support this evidence, the last couple weeks ive been having strange freeze ups and random restarts.

and this comes 2 days before new parts come in for a htpc makeover... so the timing isnt horrible but why did this thing die? because its antec? its even been on an apc ups for its entire life... sigh:(

Try the paperclip trick and see if you get any life out of it. If not, it's probably a goner (you may need to hook up some fans first to provide a minimum load for the fan to spin up).

ill try it on friday when i dive head first into a pile of pc parts. its dead though, im 99% sure of it. the way the pc was acting up lately made all too much sense when it just went blank with no respone at all after that.

im going to search newegg for a receipt. i think i bought it there. if i did, this would be antec rma #3 for me (all different models).

Could be like my friend's Seasonic PSU.

A small bug crawl inside and shorten the PSU out and got itself fried. PSU didn't last much longer after that.

it's alive! DTN- you scared me when you said that because the last couple days i notice i do have a mouse in the house! but it's working again. all i did was uninstall it completely, paper clip test showed it powered on, so i put it in the new htpc (new board, ram, cpu) and it fired right up and is working good. well see how it goes when i start gaming, but it looks promising. not sure what went wrong....

Did you change the graphics card? I had a powercolor 4850 do that to me after 2 weeks, just in the middle of playing a game (a dx7 title no less) and it just blackscreened without warning. Rebooting got me the same thing you describe, motherboard indicators were on and I think the system fans spun up, but nothing else.
