EDIT: EA500 is now bought.

Well, the specs are the rig in the sig. I think the PSU I have right now (which is now 2 years old, and reading some recent reviews, people wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole) is dead/dying.

I'm thinking about buying Antec's Earthwatts 500w PSU. Might not be the best, but certainly not the worst either, and also, it has to be cheap. $70 and free shipping, for what I'm getting here is pretty good IMHO.

Only thing I'm a little scared of are the 2x12v 17amp rails... and how it's all going to work out with that 9800GTX I got there (the 65nm, dual 6 pin version).

Is this a good idea? Or you think I could get away lower wattage/cheaper?

Thanks.

Yes, the EA500 is more than enough for your system. However, I recommend this Corsair TX650 for the same price after rebate, or for a little cheaper, this BFG LS-550 for $60 after rebate. You could go lower-wattage, but you're unlikely to find a better deal than these two.

Well considering the 430w Earthwatts ran the Q6600 rig in my sig for a few months I think you will be just fine with the 500w.

Sorry, bought the EA500 already. I know it is *only* $10 more, but before I know it I'm like, "Well this is only another $10 more..."

Cheaper was the goal, and from all the looking around on newegg, I found the EA500.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Too bad. I would have spent the money on the 5-year warranty of an Antec Neo-500 Watt PSU & it's modular for $69.99 w/ Free S/H from NG.

But...Nothing wrong with the Antec EA 500. Soild PSU. Are they still be made by Seasonic?
