Antec Aria MicroATX Cube Case

I was thinking about buying one they have them at Compusa and the seem pretty cool, only limitation I know of is that you have to make sure you HSF will fit under the power supply (though It looks like most would). Felt solid when I picked it up. I decided to go with a biostar iDEQ instead though.

I have an Antec Aria and I love it. Check my sig for stats. The A64 with HSF has no problem getting in this baby because the socket isn't under the power supply. You will have to take a little more time when installing because the room is a little tight. Just make sure you know the best order to install all the components.
If it's not apparent,... I highly recommend this case.

Well, I think that kind of things depends a LOT on the motherboard you choose.

That said, I know for sure the P4 stock heatsink fits under the PSU.

Heatsink height should be the only thing you worry about. I was able to slap in a Zalman 7000CU in this thing, but I had to remove the power supply to make sure all motherboard connections were made first. It made installing it much easier than having to try to slide the motherboard in from the side and under all the cable mess.

I'm going to be taking everything out of my aria either today or tomorrow so that I can cut the rear fan grill off. I'm not really looking forward to that but I figure I'll just slide out the mobo with hsf still attached. Whenever I do any work like this I always remove the power supply and rest it on the top. If the wires from the power supply could be pulled out of the power socket conecter (attached to case) then the PS could be completely detached for much easier dremel work. These wires can't be pulled out can they???

Just picked up an aria case Saturday. I have to say I like the case. and yes mgars its nice and quiet. I sit right next to it and the only way I know its on is by the lighting and my monitor. Only problem I have right now is trying to track down an issue with my system locking up. Not sure if its a heat thing, system gets hot Bios stating its getting around 56C to 57C on idle with case open or if its the fact that I got a cheapo (free) craptacular second hand MoBo :p (likely suspect) from a friend.

As stated above it does help a bit to remove the rear fangrill. I removed the the in the psu not the one on the case. I think it looks a little better that way. The way they should have done from Antec.

The one thing I found out about these cases is that they need cross ventilaton. The temps went way down after I put those 80mm holes in the sides. It also helped with water cooling the cpu.

My Antec Aria

I finished cutting out the fan grill last night with my dremel. While I had all the parts out I thought I'd replace the themal paste on the CPU. So I pulled the A64 3200+ off, cleaned it and the HS, put fresh thermal paste on the CPU and put it back together. I then put all the parts back together and re-did my wire management. It might be slightly cooler but it still runs hot with the case sides and top off. Would upgrading my stock HSF to a Zalman or any other HSF be worth it? I just want to be able to run my machine with the panels on it and not have to worry.

The Zalman vs. the stock cooler? The Zalman kicks the snot out the stock cooler. There are many reviews out on the net in which this scenario is compared, just not in an Aria case. The results though should be universal. The Zalman has a better fan and overall wider area of dispursment than the stock cooler. It's worth the added cost of the cooler IMO.
