Is there any way to increase the voltage to the big boy 200 and make it spin faster creating more airflow?
 
If you already have it on high then theres not much else you can do. Why would you anyways? That thing pushes more air than Bill O'Reilly.

Well, whatever you do make sure you have equal amounts of air going in as you do out.. Its a vacuum effect. Without it, you just push a lot of air around in your case.
 
the fan runs on 5v (red lead to your 4pin molex), you could move the pin over (red one) to the opposite side for 12v...but do it at your own risk. you may be limited by the 3 speed switch though...or you may fry the PCB inside the fan motor housing. It's doubtful that you'd fry it, but you'd certainly shorten it's lifespan.

Upthrust? What are you trying to do, fly it?

And never apply 12V to a fan designed to run on 5V...unless you want to let the smoke out.
 
And again.. why you want to do it is well beyond me.
You are just going to create hot pockets. Because the other fans can't pull in enough air to equal the amount going out of the case. Lets take a minute and discuss what the stock 900 has..

2 120mm fans in the front: Most cases come with one standard spot for either a 120mm or a 80mm fan.

The PSU at the bottom. This is the hottest part of my case.. with that said, its still cooler than most cases out there in the same spot. The way the standard case runs is that it has the psu at the top. This creates a hot pocket right above where you proc is (which is dumb).

So they take the componant that creates the most heat and keeps it from leaving you case and they stick it at the bottom and stick a big mother****ing fan in its place. This takes the hottest air in your case and pushes it out away from your precious goodies.

As if that isn't enough, it comes stock with a 120mm to pull air in or out on the back of the case.

If that doesn't tickle you, theres another spot for a 120mm fan on the side to keep your videocard(s) nice and crisply-cool.









Despite all of this, you want to turn up the fan even more than the stock high setting? Have you even heard the fans on high? It sounds like one of those first generation microwaves from the 1970s where if you stand within 10 feet of them, they melt your nuts. You know... the ones where when you microwave your hot pockets, the neighbors pound on your walls and call the cops because they think you are building WMD's in your kitchen.

You make valid points there, I might still try it and see if it helps temps out at all.
 
If your having temp problems with the 900 its your heatsink, or how its seated, or oriented, or the wrong type, or your ambient temperature is 45 c. Air flow is NOT the problem. There are lots of ways to drop temperature and airflow is only one of them.
 
Man O Man.... if the guy wants to pump friggn 24volts through the thing more power to him :) lol go for it bro...
 
ya, I don't have any cooling problem, I'm just going for overkill :D
I was thinking of modding the case and adding 2 more 120s on the side too :p

The airflow is pretty weak to me personally... Blades are too thin and have a weak bend to them.
 
dude just dont bother aye trying to make the 200 faster and ading another 120mm on the side is stupid not even gana make any dif to temps the 900 already pushed enough air its not gana get any cooler from airflow u will need better cooling on ur cpu and gfx card
