Antec 1200 unboxing....

Microcenter has these in stock now?!?!

AWESOME. Gotta go get one.

Well that case certainly won't win any beauty competitions, cases are just getting less and less good looking these days.

I have a couple of intake fans mounted on the side vent of my case. They bring in a lot of dust. I need to clear it out every two months (especially if I notice warm weather on the way). I notice that the Twelve Hundred has venting on the sides and what looks like a round area for an (optional) fan mount. but I assume that there is no dust filter there.

I'm probably going to get this case, but I'm a bit disappointed that all air intakes don't have dust filters. Even with no fan on the side panel, I would think quite a lot of dust will get in there.

Why not buy a Fan filter?

For the Twelve Hundred, much of the side door is perforated. So I don't think it would help. For my current case, I did. . . but never got around to installing them and there is venting that wouldn't be covered.

Buy some air conditioning filter material and cut it to the right size and shape, problem solved.

Hurin you'll be happy to know the conclusions you're jumping to are wrong.

The side intake does have an air filter. Also, the perforated holes on the side door are covered on the inside of the panel by clear 1/8" plastic that is shaped to cover the entire perforated opening. You have the choice of leaving it on or removing it.

Got a 900 now, thinking of upgradeing to a 1200 or a Cosmos 1100.

The pics of your Motherboard sure make the case look huge, either that or your MB is really small. I also like the black interior and cable routing holes. Would be nice if they would redo the 900, I dont really need a bigger case but I like the way the 1200 looks overall.

P.S. where did that rear USB bracket come from, I have never seen one with 4 usb ports, I would love to get my hands on one. http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1309724

Thought I'd chime in as I just completed my own build with the Twelve Hundred.

The case has been great. Plenty of room and even with extra long GPUs I think it should be fine by moving a hard drive or two. From back bracket to hard drive wall its a little over 11.5 inches.

My only gripe is I think they gimped the space behind the motherboard tray for cable mgmt. I would have liked a little more space between the side panel and the back of mobo wall. Its not a big deal just have to be a little more aware of clearance. with my non modular silencer 750 cables. At first i was a little overwhelmed by the height but now appreciate it with 3 different HD bays. Plenty of options. I used the bottom bay to store my extra PSU cables.

Only other thing is this sucker is a heavy bitch fully loaded with parts. I wouldn't want to drag this to a LAN haha. But for a at home workstation it gives me plenty of space to work in. Oh yah the 6 fans sure keep things cool (and quiet too). I run all mine at medium with the top big boy at low. Very quiet my hard drives are noiser than the case fans.

Picked mine up on Saturday from Microcenter in Dallas. I was using a 900 and have been tight on space from the beginning. This thing is a breeze to work in compared to the 900. Typical Antec quality, I am enjoying this new case very much.

I used to live in the SJ bay area and have some family there. As someone mentioned, one of my favorite parts shops up there, Central Comuters, has this case (even though the image on the website is not correct) for $159.

I called my brother and asked him if he'd buy it, slap a pre-paid Fedex Ground sticker on it, and drop it off at Fedex. He said: "I'm coming down to within 100 miles of you this weekend." Score!

He's got it now. Just a quick drive away this Sunday. :D

Holy crap it dwarfs the stacker!

This case would be on my short list if I ever needed to rebuild my server, but for a desktop PC I'd want something a bit smaller - P180 barely fits under my desk as it is.

If you had a mATX motherboard you would want to consider the mini P180 like me :D

Mini P180 is still a big case. If I wanted a SFF system, I'd get a SFF case.

But you would not be able to fit everything in a sff case like I have in my sig. Its not meant to be a sff case. Its for ppl that want to save more room than a P180 and happen to have a mATX board. It was just a suggestion geez

How is the quality? Flimsy sidepanels like the 900? They should have used aluminium...

Aesthetically not up my alley, but im sure it has good function.

I personalyl love the P190's and 182's

I had the 182, ended up returning it for the 1200.. I liked working with the 1200 more...
The side pannels are pretty stiff... Over all after having it for a couple of weeks I am really enjoying it. It weighs enough to put your back out or gain muscles... Boat anchor, road block... I really do not like the way the side pannels go on, esp since the upper corner is angled different then any other case.. I do wish the HDD's where on a rail system so i didnt have to take out the cage to get to the screws... I wanted to get a 900 for my server that has nothing to it.. I do love the painted interior though...

So, I'm considering replacing all the fans (except the 200mm top one) with 120mm Scythe S-Flexes. I've had terrible luck with Antec fans and I'm also not a fan (ugh, sorry) of the night-light blue LED effect.

I note that the fan speed for the rear fans are controlled via switches at the top of the case while the front bay fans are controlled via knobs that protrude from the honeycomb venting.

So, my question is. . . can these fans be removed without any cutting of wires (speed control or otherwise)?

Thanks!

I was able to with the TriCools that came in my P182. The little switches just snapped into or out of the frame holding them. They appeared to be the same switches on my friends Antec 900, so I would think they are the same 3 -way switches on the 1200 as well.

You, my friend, just cost me a whole lot of money in S-Flex fans. :D

(thanks for the info)

I hear ya, i put 4 of them in my P182. Even if by some chance it was a different design and you had to cut the wire, its not like your losing a decent fan or anything. One of my TriCools starting clicking with in a month or two. I may just be unlucky though.

{youre welcome)

Okay, I asked instead of checking for myself because I was at work and wanted to pull the trigger on my parts (including fans) order. But, just to be sure, I went home and decided to prematurely unbox my case (was hoping to wait for the rest of the parts both because I didn't want to get excited about building it before the parts arrive and because our cats get into everything).

Both the switches on the back and the knobs that protrude through the honeycomb grating can be easily removed. Each of them have two little plastic retention clips/clamps. It's just a matter of releasing them and pushing the switches/knobs out. Just be careful not to break the clips since they are plastic. Though, if you did, I guess it wouldn't hurt much. I've stripped the fans out of the case now and I'm ready to go.

Man, I really love this case now that I've poked around a bit inside. Ordering my parts tonight! Can't wait any longer!
