In having 12 bays, would anyone know if this case would accept four (4) Coolermaster 4in3 HD cages so that I could fit 16 drives in it? The lower nine (9) bays appear that they would not pose a problem, more curious about the upper three bays.

I'm not sure about that, but in my Thermaltake Armor case, i have 11 bays, 1 for the power button etc, another for a disc drive and 9 with 3 in 3 bays with 120mm fans at the front, and they can all be repositioned in any way.

I'm looking at a LianLi PC-A77F for the same thing, it has 12 at the front so I was going to ditch the dvd drive and lob 4 120/140mm fan bays at the front since the power buttons etc are all up top.
 
Should be fine, I turned the top 3 bays in my 900 into another fan bay, so I dont see why the 1200 would be any different.
 
Yeah, the lower 9 bays utilize Antec's slide in drive bay cages, so I wasn't too worried about those. Was more concerned that the upper 3 bays. Have not seen the case in person yet, wanted to make sure that there weren't any tabs or obstructions up there which would restrict sliding the 4in3 unit in.
 
I was thinking about doing something similar. I'm only at 6 HDs now (2 x 1.5TB and 2 x 2TB) but they're filling up pretty quickly and my current server case will be full at 8 hard drives. If you ever go through with this please post pics!
 
I can guarantee you it will work.

The drive bays can be slid in any combination of positions.

You can even buy a 4th one and slide it into the top 3 if you don't want optical drives.

At the moment, mine is DVD-RW in the top 2, two of the carriers, a blank, then the 3rd carrier.
