Ok my questions are is the 6800GT faster than the x800 pro at lets say 1024x768 or the res up from that becasue that will be what i will play on. I need to know which 6800GT seller (bfg, evga, nvidia, others..) has the best bundle and so on. I really would like SM3.0 but if the x800 pro is a better performer i dont really care, cause they look the same to me.

The 6800GT in general is a better performer than the X800PRO. Also the 6800GT is a 16 pipe card while the x800PRO is only a 12 pipe card.

IMO the best brands are BFG and eVGA.

If you order from eVGA.com you get a free copy of FarCry and get the card at your doorstep by Friday:
eVGA 6800 GT - In Stock Now - $399
http://www.evga.com/products/moreinfo.asp?Part_Number=256-A8-N344-AX

On the other hand, if you can wait a bit, you can preorder the BFG 6800 GT from best buy and save a little cash, but no games:
BFG 6800 GT - Preorder - Limited Time Sale $359 - ETA 7/6 - 7/12

There are some reviews. The 6800GT is clearly the faster performer. The X800Pro is only able to compete when high levels of AF are enabled. The 6800GT will perform much better in OpenGL and supports SM 3.0, UltraShadow II Technology, and other things like HDR in Far Cry.

XFX is one of my favorite nVidia brands. They are usually one of the top overclockers.

I ordered mine from there at $405. They were in stock and ready to ship Friday so hopefully mine ships tommorrow.

BFG, eVGA, and Gainward are good brands also.

since another product refresh will happen in a another 3 months get whichever card you can find cheapest, either card is great but id get the cheapest and save a little for the next gen cards..

the Nvidia bot strikes again

Thanks guys, i appreciate it alot :D. If i get up enough guys to spend 400 outta my 437 bucks im gonna go with the eVGA so i can get farcry :O. I dunno tho i may have to upgrade my ram to 1gb first and then ill see edit: how long do you think the 400 dollar price on the evga at the evga website will stay? What im considering doing is doing my ram, headphones, and then video card + fortron 530w psu

Or you could Add a mere 30 bucks and get x800xt-PE, its on pre order at CDW for 459.

Up to you , in the end it doesnt really matter, we will all want to upgrade again in 6 months.

I'm pretty sure he's wanting the card before August.

Considering the amount of people that have pre-ordered from CDW and Best Buy it could be while before the X800XT PE would ever ship.

As opposed to the low number of 6800 orders... that are also on back order

Not just Nvidia mind you but XFX Nvidia. ;)

Burning, bro, do you actually have a notepad list of those links or what man? And if you do, share the love with the rest of your fellow Nvidiots.

I'd want to upgrade again in 6 months only if I went with ATI [no SM3]. That's why I'm going with Nvidia this round, same performance, superior featureset (plus they're green so their color matches with AMD).

I plan to keep the GT around for a while, probabley skip 1 generation before I upgrade again.

Watch, NV50 brings SM4...if that happens I'll goto sketchers and buy a steel-toed boot, then proceed to personally kick that Jen character in the nut.

Im not an nvidia or an ati fan, im just choosing the 6800GT this round cause its the better performer...and it has 16 pipes and it has the ability to oc up to a 6800 ultra....oh yea and it has sm3.0, so next time if ati can lower their prices and perform better at 1024x768 and the res above it then ill go ati

Each day i grab all the links released concerning the new video cards and i bookmark them in my "Hardware Reviews" folder where i hate them neatly sorted for quick viewing later.

I've got several reviews i havn't busted out yet.

And yes i like XFX. But i also like Gigabyte and Leadtek alot. MSI is nice but they are too expensive.

And i just ordered an XFX 6800GT friday from GameVE because they were IN STOCK and ready to ship for $405.

wooohaaa!! I definitely wanna see that.

The GT sounds like a great card...now if they can only hurry up with the pcie stuff...

I am real close to pulling the triiger on the GT but I am concerned about 1600x 1200 performance

Dunno why, its a solid performer at 1600x1200. And if you want, you can O/C it to Ultra speeds. As we've seen from recent benchmarks, the 6800U and x800XT trade blows in benchmarks at 1600x1200 4xAA/8xAF - they are pretty much the same speed; the 6800U wins some of them by 1-5fps depending on the map, while the x800xt wins some of them by 1-5fps depending on the map. The GT isn't far behind even at stock speed... And since its the same 16x1 architecture as the Ultra, well, let's just say most have been able to overclock it past stock ultra speeds so far.

Plus with the GT you get SM3.0, FP32, FP blending for HDR lighting, etc...

go to anandtech and look at the radeon x800 XT pe prices. they had one at some store for 465, and I believe it was in stock(not posititve, but pretty sure). If I was to get a card, that would be it. if you like bundles get an x800 from gecube or MSI. they both have like 10+ games, many of which are pretty good.

I dont think anyone has an X800XT PE in stock. If you have a link to a site that does though please post it.

The X800XT PE is just vaporware right now. All the more reason to buy a 6800GT if your after something RIGHT NOW.

My GT is suppost to ship today.

Trust me no one does have a PE in stock and in fact I just got off the phone with CDW and she told me that they are getting in a partial order now , (allocation) I canceled and ordered a GT overnight air. I am siock of fucking waiting and the GT looks pretty good for $442 landed tomorrow.

By the time A PE is available for that price the R500 will be out. I want to get back to enjoying gaming.
