Just started assembling a new system, and using a PC Power & Cooling SLI 510 PSU

I don't have a multi meter handy so I'm asking:

Shouldn't the PSU Fan come on and power go to the leads if nothing is plugged in to any of the leads? Or does the unit not power up unless the ATX plug is plugged in?

sounds dumb but i was trying to check out a fan controller with nothing else plugged into the PSU and nothing happens when I turn on the main Pwr switch (I'm hoping I didn't get a dead PSU) :(

You need to have the atx connector plugged in and the power button on the front of the computer hooked up and pressed. Or you can manualy start the psu by connecting the green wire and a black wire together.

"whew" muchas gracias, I had a suspicion there might be a "safety" or relay to be closed before it would power up but wasn't sure.

I love this forum !!

Thanks again guys. :)
