Another noob builder question: RAM "compatibility"

I bought RAM for a new build, and now that I have it in hand it says "compatible with Intel LGA1155/LGA1156 systems", but I'm building on LGA2011 with an Asus P9X79 PRO board. Do I have a problem here? This is G.Skill DDR3-1866 4x8GB F3-1866C10Q-32GAB (product link here).

I am expecting this is not a problem but it would be better to know ahead of time for RMA purposes. Thanks for your input here.
 
RAM is RAM. For Sandy/Ivy so long as it is 1.5V you're fine.
 
As long as your RAM is 1.5v, like Skripka said, you shouldn't have any problems.

Also, if you look at the link you provided it lists the P9X79 Pro as a qualified motherboard for that RAM.
 
Unless you got a ridiculous deal on 1866 RAM, you're just wasting your money with it.
 
Some RAM is specifically tested for the XMP profile that Intel systems uses. It really doesn't matter, however. If you use DDR3 @ 1.5V like mentioned above then it should work just fine. Feel free to PM me if you need help selecting RAM.
 
I have one of those boards & am running 4x8GB Crucial Ballistix 1600 (e.g. the only 8GB modules Microcenter had in stock that day). It had all kinds of trouble detecting my ram until I flashed the bios. It's quite likely that yours will have similar problems if it comes with the same ancient BIOS mine did. There's a memory autodetect button on the board next to the DIMM sockets. I had to push it every time I booted until I got an updated BIOS. It's fine after the flash though; no issues.
 
Should be fine, G.Skill RAM is pretty awesome.

Your board has an X79 chipset.
