I have a $300 budget. Not a lot of 24" choices in my area. I know that I want a 1920x1200 monitor instead of 1920x1080 (Unless someone can convince me otherwise). Usage will be for regular home computer use (Moderate gaming - I have an 8800 GTS, Word/Excel, Web Surfing, very little, but occasional use of Photoshop).

Having triple inputs (VGA, DVI-D, HDMI) intrigues me greatly, because I may hook my 360 up to the monitor as well.

Here are my choices that I've found locally:

Acer P241WAD
Samsung 2443BWX
Soyo DYLM-24E6

Now, only the Acer has triple inputs for my price range. Has anyone seen/heard anything good on this monitor? Best Buy has the Samsung for exactly $300 on clearance, but it only has VGA and DVI.

Lastly, any other suggestions? Thanks.

Edit: Let me clarify. I don't care one iota about local/internet order. What I care about is getting something under $300, and something that I can return for a single dead/stuck pixel should I so choose.

I got the Samsung 2433BW for $284 from sams club just yesterday, having had the 245BW before. Mine has solid color (set to "warm" currently) with sharp text and no ghosting. I think the sammy can be found on the 'egg for cheaper, but buying from a b&m has its perks (like not being shipped :D)

cheers

And being able to return due to a single dead pixel

Oh, and is the panel matte or glossy? I couldn't tell, and the box says black glossy, but I was unsure whether that was the bezel or panel.

Also, is there a button to switch inputs? I know on the Acer, I have to wade through the OSD to change inputs, which is kind of annoying, but livable.

why not consider the Samsung Syncmaster T240? i think thats under 300 also...

Where locally? If I could find it for that, I'd get that in a heartbeat. Best I've seen is $450.

Short sale http://www.ncixus.com/products/?sku=31200&promoid=1088&vpn=G2400WD&manufacture=BENQ
BenQ G2400WD for under 300. My final pick as best choice of the 24" TN's, no input lag, good color, good brightness and blacks. The overdrive is not that great there is reported shadowing (the T220 I'm returning has almost zero overdrive artifacting), but none of them are perfect. This was the closest for my general gaming and computing needs.
If you need to buy local, these guys MSRP is like 379.99 so good luck finding for 300, but that place with the sale will exchange on even 1 dead pixel if you pay an extra 15 bucks.

If you don't mind losing a few vertical pixel rows and going to 1920x1080(I did) this Asus http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236048 is supposed to be pretty decent and goes on sale for even cheaper.

Better than the Acer? I can get the Acer for $280 (plus a $20 coupon if I can find it)

For $13, I would do it. But yeesh! Shipping is expensive!

Yes 30 plus 8 for the insurance. I didn't want the insurance but I dont want complications if I end up with dead pixels or bad backlight bleed. Was like 330 something all together.

The 2 acer monitors I have used, and the reviews of most that I have read, are unanimously bad heh. The G2400 keeps coming up as one of the best 24 TNs for gaming and general use after weeks of research. Reasons I picked it:
Reported almost zero inpug lag in multiple reviews.
Good color, maybe best or tied for best in all 24" TN's, reported in multiple reviews.
Good reactivity, not the best but I was fine gaming even on my old 8ms MVA.
Generally low reported problem with errors, buzzing, bleeding, uneven backlighting or tons of dead pixels. Generally great user reviews in the 50 page thread on it too.
Negative is there are multiple reports that the overdrive on it (can be turned on/off) causes artifacting/reverse ghosting. Hopefully isolated cases, but even if not a lot of other 24s have this too, without the positives or price.
Great newegg reviews to top it off, not that I trust them for anything deeper than how often there are dead pixels or other really bad problems.

But brand doesn't matter as much as specific model, and even different panels on the same model. My T220 had the good samsung panel, some have (allegedly)crappy CMO and ChiMei panels.

i got mine from ncixus.com for $280 shipped. i believe they have a $12 no dead pixel guarantee that i should i have gotten.

in the end. i do NOT recommend buying from ncix because i placed my order on dec25 and i STILL do not have my monitor. i've also called them about 50 times and only got through about 5. they have a horrid hold system where a customer can only be on hold for 5 mins. then gets sent to voicemail.

G2400WD has VESA and comes very highly recommended.
LG W2600H-PF at newegg with coupon code is $350 shipped. 25.5"
There's a questionable Westinghouse 25.5" at buy.com for ~$265 (reports of buzzing at low brightness)
Dell S2409W on sale at Staples for $280 (1920x1080, but at physical store)
Samsung 2443BWX at Office Depot for $300
Dell SP2309W 23" 2048x1152 16:9 at OWC (seems legit) http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Dell/SP2309W/ ~$265 shipped
Dell E248WFP can be found for cheap too.

That 23" Dell is... interesting. Were it not a TN I'd be selling my Soyo and god knows what else to get it. As is, no thanks.

Does the BenQ have VESA mounting holes?

The G2400WD does, the V2400W (identical monitor with different bezel/features) does not.

If it didn't arrive in advertised time and I could not get through or a good answer, I would just contest the charge =)

That Dell s2409w is interesting also. I am looking at buying local, and could get that at Staples, or preferrably, Best Buy with a price match. I initially wrote it off, because I didn't think it had all 3 inputs.

Is the extended warranty from Best Buy worth it for $40?

Yes; for 3 years of coverage, they will fix any malfunction for free (no accidental issues though). All you have to do is bring it in to any Best Buy store and they will ship it for free. Takes around 2 weeks. Also, if the cost of repair exceeds the cost of the product, they will let you come back into the store to get a new product. Furthermore, if you bring it in for a 4th repair, they might claim it to be a lemon and they will let you pick out a new product in the store.

for $40, that isn't too bad. If they don't give you a pamphlet with all of the details, ask for one and make sure to read all of the details before you buy it just so you are sure about what you're getting!

Note on the BB PSP... I think you have a 30 day period to where you can come back to the store and purchase it after the original purchase. At least that's how it was with the Best Buy PRP. Gives you time to really look it over.
