I will be doing mostly AutoCAD, Solidworks, and gaming. On the P4 system I planed on getting another stick of 512 for dual channel. Does the ABIT mobo support dual channel? I don’t think it does but would like a concrete answer. So please recommend what system should work better for me. Or just flame or give me a general subjection.

What are you planning to do for a graphics card? Besides that, both setups look pretty solid.
 
If autocad & solidworks support multiple CPUs the P4 setup would probably be better since it's got hyperthreading. Of course, a dual AMD rig would probably bring even more performance in that case for a bit of extra cost. That would hurt gaming performance though due to the slow 266 fsb.
