Ok that past 2 months Ive been reinstalling windows maybe like 10-12 times...switching hardware/trying to solve problems...im not pirating it....but EVERYTIME i do it now I have to call them to reactivate it where i used to be able to activate it over the internet and it was fine...this is rather annoying and cumbersome i dont feel like picking up the phone to justify to these customer svc reps in india as to why im re-activating it....i have a legit copy of windows and I dont feel like doing this anymore, I have a feeling once I get my RMA'ed DFI board back im gonna be doing it a few times to get the right setup...any ways around this?
 
Don't activate windows until you're sure you have the right setup. You have 30 days from the install until you have to activate.

If your hardware doesn't change from install to install, then you could just copy over the wpa.dbl file from the old install to the new one. See here

tru nuff devildog. you can reinstall it every month or you can wait till you have your components together and then call em.

buddy of mine was a computer geek/bitch for his company so he had to call M$ all the time to get them to do it over the phone... according to him you can only authenticate 3x online, from then on its phone auth only.
 
And MS wonders why people pirate...

Personally, I can't stand the fact that because I pay for software, I have to go through a whole hell of a lot of BS just to use it, when if I had no morals, I could (not condoning it, just hypothetically) pirate a copy of XP or other software and never have to deal with MS's stupid anti-pirating stuff ever again. It just doesn't make sense to me why people who don't pirate are the only ones who pay for piracy...

me thinks that this anti-piracy stuff is intended to keep the low level pirates from doing it. there will always be a way around the anti-piracy stuff ... made by the peeps out there that crack the software just to say they can do it
 
Low level? It's not that difficult to bootleg WinXP.

Microsoft knows that if they ever released a version of Windows that was impossible to bootleg, there would be a mass exodus from Windows towards Mac and Linux, and all the developers would follow.
