For awhile now I've had the idea to do a case mod based on Serial Experiments Lain. Right now I'm figuring out how to accomplish everything I need to do and I need some help with picking out a pic. The pic is for a transparency that I will go over a window and be backlite, I still haven't picked out a color yet but I am working with the idea of Blue/Green. The case is an old Antec that I intended to mod but never really got to it. I made some mods to the front bezel and the door has since broken off so I think I might get a new bezel from Antec and start fresh again.

I want to cut the window out this week but that all depends on how the weather goes (its been kind of cold here lately) and I do have a Service job for Monday but I hope to atleast have all the stuff for the window ordered by the end of the week.
I have been drilling out some of the rivets too so that I can paint it, thinking of using one of those Duplicolor Mirage kits I'm thinking of going with the Purple/Green one. I will need to fab a new door but I can't do that yet since I need to get a new heatgun, have some mod ideas that need to be worked out for it too.
I don't have a digital camera but I still have an 35mm around atleast. I think I'll hit up some friends to see if I can borrow one of theirs cameras just in case. Today I have to go down to CompUSA and return a network card that refused to work right. I'll pick up some film then and check out the that "digital prints" thing, you know where they give you a CD of your film.
So tell me what you think about it. What pic do you like, etc, etc.
 
From the pics you listed there, I'd go with 9 definitely. I think that would look pretty sweet on a case. Then if you wanted, you could use pic 6 on either the front bezel or the right side. If you have a door over the cd drives, it might look good on the door. Most of the other pics wouldn't look right as more of an outline, you'd lose the context and people wouldn't be able to see what it was really...possibly just thinking it was a person, you'd lose the feel of it.

:) I haven't watched Lain yet, it good? What would you give it out of 5 stars? I watch a TON of anime and I'm always looking for a good series I haven't watched yet. :D
 
Thats a nice one (have to use as a wallpaper) but I don't think I could use it very well. I have a few ideas on what I want to put on the door, I just have to do some mock ups later.
I was thinking about the other side of the case and how I can't think of anything to put on it and I began to think about laser etchings. I've spent a good deal of the morning turning pics black and white to see which ones would make for a nice etching. I think I'll have to do that too. (maybe I could use that pic)
Oh yeah I almost forgot, if you haven't seen Lain then I would suggest trying it out. If you liked the matrix then you'd probably like it because its one the things that the brothers used as source material.
 
I'm going to go with the third one because I think it captures alot of the elements that the show has. I'm going to try and get some materials for making a new door this week and order the window stuff too. I'm going to try and get the paint next week and start painting the week after, it looks like it's going to be getting warmer around here.
 
hmm.. this makes me think.. cartoons on cases ? I might do a Snorks themed case !! woo woo!

That all depends on what resolution you are running.... so we dont know which one you are talking about

Good point...forgot about that...in that case, left to right top to bottom, its #7 or the one with the file name Lain09.jpg
