Amplifier question

I have an old JVC stereo integrated amplifier originally intended for use with a pair of large box speakers. I've toyed with the idea of using it as a headphone amplifier for a pair of HD280s, but since I'm not very knowledgeable in this area, I'm not sure if it is a good idea or not, or if it is even necessary/helpful with these particular headphones. Any input would be appreciated.

Pretty easy to try it and see what you get.
I think you may just notice the bass becomes much better when you employ any kind of amplification with those phones.
