amd vs intel virtualization are they comparable

I know all the gamers prefer intel and the server market is similar, we only run intel. I do believe I've seen lots of reviews where the intel used much less power. I've been happy with my amd setup for home lab and passthrough works well but I'm curious if the intel equivalent runs faster? I just don't have similar compared amd/intel systems to test and answer my curiosity.
 
I went off of benchmarks when choosing the architecture for my home lab. Sure, there are equivalent Intel processors that probably perform better, but for the price? If you look at the neigbhoring Intel CPU's in this benchmark, my AMD FX 8350 is very reasonably priced.


Now, if I've started a war by bringing in benchmarks, forgive me. Just the logic I used when budgeting for my build.
