AMD - The Master Plan - Part 2 [closed]

This interview goes in hand with what was said. Smaller dies , no more Cf and SLI.

its possible but again, we just don't know what the settings were.
true, true, but wouldn't it be really interesting if that is the case, considering how badly the nvidia lineup performs , and the fact that both kepler and maxwell already have primitive discard hw acceleration

I do agree he does sound like he is a nut hugger for AMD. But he make a lot of very good points too. AMD has secured all future consoles, and developers will be using AMD hardware for future games for PC. Not because they don't want to use Nvidia, but Consoles are the money makers, PC's aren't. We do have to pray that developers think of PC gamers, and some do. Some just shit on PC gamers and release horrible ports.

Either way for PC gamers the next 2-3 months are exciting times!

He does make some good points, he also makes outlandish claims - and he talks about wafer yields but i don't believe who understands very much about them

He isn't say anything interesting, there's absolutely no insight in this video. It's literally him reciting what he read from same sources we've all had access to, making a bunch of downright weird assessments and concluding - among other things - that nvidia is essentially preparing to abandon the pc gaming market because they're invested in vehicle autonomy and HPC.

Not that there's anything wrong with that, everyone is free to say whatever they want, this probably gets him youtube views - but it doesn't have a place in a serious discussion about hardware really

If he kept it at that, no one can argue what he stated, but the rest of it, was so much BS.......

So just curious. Since you and leldra are so negative about AMD, why post in the AMD forums? Why even watch the video?

I mean it just seems like every AMD forum thread you 2 shit on AMD. Almost like you guys are trying to get them closed.

I'm not negative about amd, I'm interested in hardware. Who are you to question which forums I choose to visit?

Why is it us that are negative and not you being overly optimistic, on the verge of unreasonably optimistic?

This video is unreasonable

You conflating 'shitting on amd' with having sensible expectations is the problem in its entirety, and it's your problem, not mine

Because I don't tolerate ignorance, good enough for you?

yeah look at the posts that are here, who gave information, who gave shit, then make your assumptions and go from there.

Do you really want me to analyze that video and go into in depth details why Adored talks out of his ass? I mean its easy to do, even a monkey can do what he does. Go to a few sites take a few pictures read their articles, then make assumptions, and make a video. Guess what that is crap.

And Bracke if you look at at my posts, I mentioned this very strategy months ago! Close to a year ago. In the general forum. But I didn't take it so far as it would outright give an advantage to AMD, because that is just stupidity, you have many other companies involved that would never, and I mean NEVER let that happen.

I disagree, I found his point about AMD winning all 3 upcoming consoles and using that to leverage their strategy of multiple cheap/small GPUs to be insightful. At least I hadn't thought of that implication, and I'm the guy that keeps pointing out that PCper interview.

He didn't actually say NV was giving up on gaming, or that they lost gaming GPU wars forever more. He simply noted that they're expanding their focus to new GPU applications more suited for their strong points in the next gen-- larger higher performance GPUs.

These videos also served as great summaries for people not paying super close attention to the GPU wars.

If this is what people pay attention to I can see where the skewed perceptions are coming from.

AMD had won the console contracts last generation too... Where's the revelation ? You hadn't thought of it until now? Well, better two years late than never !

All the talk about wafer yields was BS

Assuming future consoles will feature amd multi-gpu and that this will spell doom for nvidia

come on.

this isn't just baseless conjecture, it's low effort baseless conjecture

AMD didn't have tiny/cheap/low-power/mainstream GPUs last generation. That's what's insightful, that AMD may fill those console upgrades with multiple GPUs rather than a new giant semicustom SoC, forcing developers to support explicit multi-adapter and thus leveraging their console domination to push AMD's strengths.

It's all speculation. But it IS plausible.

Sure, it's possible, there's no evidence for it, but it's possible. What does this have to do with the doom and gloom ?

What will the average consumer remember from this video ? The small parts where he simply recites information we all have access to, or the part where he drones on and on about a hilarious superficial analysis and concludes nvidia is getting screwed out of the market ?

Again, this is the probably one of the simpletons who flipped shit over JHH holding up a fake card.

Not to mention the current two leading consoles have AMD CPUs and yet most PC games play much better on Intel CPUs, often with a lowly i3 able to beat out AMD's best processors. Where is the alleged AMD performance boost on PCs that should be there due to consoles?!?

Well, I don't think he was doomy and/or gloomy either. He didn't call for NV's death, he just spoke about what could be a very smart (and incidentally, quite anticompetitive) strategy for AMD. Your strongly negative reaction to the video seems overwrought.

Dude. I really can't tell if you're being genuine or just argumentative. Watch the damn video agaon, he basically outright states that nvidia is fucked because maybe amd will design multi-gpu socs for future consoles. what a huge crock of shit

this guy is the hardware equivalent of donald trump

a lot of stupid, shallow controversial statements intended to garner attention

The author is reading the thread, let him respond. Wantapple, were you digging NV's grave?

wait.

the author of the video

is wantapple ?

I assumed it was, as he posted the thread. Could be my bad-- maybe not?

This is too good to be true

Wantapple, do you realize that when you have a defect on a die usually what you do is try and isolate the smallest possible independent function unit that contains it and laser cut it from the rest of the chip ?

A die with a defect is not a dud, it doesn't go in the trash. A defective die is usually sold with a few units disabled.

Do you also realize spelling doom and gloom for nvidia based on a hypothetical mutli-gpu console scenario several years in the future is beyond silly ? Do you realize there's no good reason for mutli-gpu optimizations to result in bad single gpu performance on pc ? Do you realize NV are doing multi-gpu chips right now with the dgx1 ?

Do you realize nvlink exists to solve inter-gpu communications bottlenecks ?

nah he doesn't really troll, just give him some AMD pompoms and let him go at it.

Nah, just a lucky boy who drives a gtr and came here to c how razor and his girlfriend leldra reply crap.

hey I was being nice, if you don't want me not to be nice, keep posting that way , and now you are trolling.

GTR thats it? hmm nice car but not my cup of tea, I like them black and long lol, my cars nothing else, preferably in the range of 100-150k fully loaded AMG moniker.

Ah, the fabled 'my car is nicer than yours therefore I'm right' argument

As far as appeals to authority go, subpar.

>discussion about hardware
>appeal to authority
>>car
