I was installing the drivers from AMD's website for Catalyst 12.2, windows detected the 6800 series drivers, installed them and im at my full 1920x1080 res. When Catalyst starts installing....the install continues until we get to the AMD VIDEO Driver install. The screen blinks and it goes to a memory dump....anyone else with this issue?
Heres some background; I hada 5750 installed with catalyst on this same system, my OS was on an SSD and i had a 500GB HDD for applications. I Installed my Video card (Gigabyte 6850) when i bought it on sunday, removed the 5750, in went the 6850 NO ISSUES!!!! Works awesome. So i had the itch to move the OS to the 500gb Sata3 HDD and use the SSD just for the intensive bandwidth games...BF3, WOW, and Skyrim. Re-installed Win7 on the HDD, everything gets updated fine and start to install the Video Drivers through AMD CCC Install package off the website.... BSOD!! Now i know the card is not bad, cause the OS is still on the SSD, when i switch back to the SSD, there is no crashing.
I thought it was a bad install of windows...somethings corrupt...lets try again, did this 5x. Negative Results.
So now i have the computer back up online, all windows updates have been installed, windows auto detected the 6800 series drivers via PnP. And i was able to install Catalyst 12.2 via "CUSTOM" install and installed everything BESIDES the Video driver...this seems to be the issue. Catalyst wont run because it says its missing this driver, so i cant launch the program.
When i get off work, this is what im looking to do,
1- Insert the old 5750 card, and install the catalyst for this card (since this is what i was originally on and had NO issues after the 6850 was installed)
2- Remove All the Catalyst AMD/ATI drivers and apps and download MSI Afterburner. and see if this works
3- Give up, the comptuer works....no need for catalyst since im never OC'ing my card (Pre-OC from factory via Gigabyte)
CompSpecs:
i3-2100
4GBx2 DDR 1333
90GB Vertex3 SSD
500GB SATA3 HDD
OCZ 600W ModXtreme PSU
Gigabyte 6850OC (New)
XFX 57501GB-ZNFC (Old)
Just looking for some feedback, Feeling kinda "short bussed" right now.
