AMD Cool N Quiet stopped functioning

Not sure what happened but suddenly AMD Cool N Quiet stopped functioning. It's been flawless since build up in early February. I noticed a couple days ago that the fan was a bit louder than usual and when I checked, my cpu was running at full speed, as was the fan. Previously it had always cycled up and down as needed (mostly defaulted to 4x multi). When I use AMD Ov erdrive and reset everything to default, fan is at manual and 100% and multi at 16x. If I try to set fan to AUTO, it cycles down to about 1200rpm and stays there. Any ideas would be appreciated.
