Amd catalyst 13.8 Beta 2

its weird when I install this it kills my Catalyst control center as if its no longer installed?

ok so I tried both express and custom and get the same result.....

I have had to resort to installing amd drivers the old fashioned way by installing drivers via the device manager...after doing that I'm able to do it using the installer package downloaded with the driver...total pita compared to nvidia drivers but it may have to do with the fact i always use driver cleaners when changing drivers...but who knows..it always takes me twice as long compared to my nvidia setups since it always refuses to install right off the bat for me...but in the end it always works for me going this route

I use the ccc option to remove driver, drivercleaner should only be used if issues with the ccc uninstall and normally no issues doing it that way with ccc.

if one use windows 7 amd have a drivercleaner that can be used.

I have tried the AMD Uninstall Utility followed by Driver Fusion then installed the 13.4 suite then the beta driver and still get the same bloody result........grrrrrrrrr

Why are you installing 13.4 and then 13.8 beta?

All I ever do is:
1) Catalyst Uninstall manager from control panel.
2) AMD Uninstall utility
3) ReBoot
4)Install new drivers

Have you re-downloaded the driver package? Maybe yours is corrupted.

You can download it here too: http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/amd_catalyst_13_8_beta2_(13_200_11_august_14)_download.html

Just noticed at the AMD site there is Catalyst 13.8 Beta 2. I checked my previous install directories and noticed it did in fact create a new folder called 13.8 Beta 2. I do not know the difference between this and the previously available 13.8 beta.

What does it do?

Here are the release notes.
I think this package just adds some Crossfire profiles for newer games.
This package now has framepacing, but still no mention of frame pacing in EyeFinity? That was SUPPOSED to be available the end of July?

to my understanding the 13.8 is just the driver, not the full catalyst control panel (or am I reading that wrong)

You are reading it wrong.
Read the Guru3D link I posted.

The Betas are always full packages, including CCC.;)

well I went through the whole steps again. I used the AMD cleaner, then driver fusion. I then installed the 13.8 package and when I click on the control panel, I get the same result that I posted earlier. I am not an idiot around computers but this is simply odd.

If I use the amd cleaner, fusion then install 13.4 voila, no problems.

I even tried to install the 13.8 from guru over the existing and the second I click on CCC, boom I get that same message that I posted above. Insanity.....

Try this: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1448650

I have had this problem with AMD drivers in the past myself.

This work-around has always done the job for me. I can't explain why you are having the issue.

What is driver fusion? That seems to be the only constant in your problem. Bypass it and try the whole clean install again.

My CCC is working great here. I always do the standard uninstall from catalyst control panel with no issues.
Love these drivers. 13.8 beta 2's are alot smoother for me compared to the 13.8
beta 1's. Seems the frame pacing has improved in all major titles as well. Just remember guys.. if you have 2 gpu's which one runs at a 99% load disable ULPS ! Your cards should have an even work % under load now. :D Beta 3's are right around the corner.. this adds framepacing support for older Dx titles. :p

Driver fusion is an uninstaller that cleans out anything the AMD cleaner does not.

I will give this a try. Again its not the end of the world but completely odd why I cannot get these to install properly....

thanks everyone

Do you happen to have a developer version of any MS .NET runtimes installed? This has caused me a similar problem in the past.

well I have tried every which way to get the beta drivers installed but no go. I guess I am stuck with 13.4 for now...... ridiculous I cant figure this out

question: what is the name of the driver file I am looking for if I navigate from devices so I can try and update the driver manually?

OMG FINALLY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I uninstalled the c++ and it worked. GOOD LORD.

thank you all for being patient with me and helping.

ok well maybe I spoke to soon. It installed and no more error message but the driver version still seems older. The driver in the device manager is dated 6/6/2013 and shows version 13.150.0.0

AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM v1.3) this is what is shown as installed. FML

Are you using Windows 8 or 8.1 because 8.1 doesn't support Catalyst 13.8 Beta 2.

your kidding me.............all this because no win 8.1..........I am going to hang myself......yes I am using 8.1

Dude.....post #10 in this thread said don't use this with Windows 8...hello, Bueller.....

Anyway, there is a separate version for Windows 8.1 I believe.:D

The official download page says it's OK for Windows 8 but doesn't specifically say/not say anything about 8.1

I also have problems with this driver. It crashes my crossfire setup. Works fine in 2D, but any game or benchmark just freezes and/or boot the PC. Win 8 Pro in use, and 13.4 drivers works ok.

Did you try the 13.8 beta 1 drivers?
Is Frame Pacing enabled or disabled?

No, I didn't try the beta 1's. I tried the 13.6 beta 2 drivers and all worked well. Now, when you asked I installed the 13.8 beta 2 again and with the Frame Pacing on(on by default) I have no luck, crashes every time I try some 3D load. But with the Frame Pacing off everything works fine...
