It's coming down to these two processors for me and I just can't decide so hoping others can bring some clarity.
AMD 9590 has more physical cores, 43% cheaper in price, but may run hotter.
Intel 5820 seems to have a much better L1,2,3 cache memory and has hyperthreading giving 6 additional virtual cores, but quite a bit more in price. (I am not opposed to spending Intel money, but the economics of the AMD price is really hard to argue with)
I also assume AMD compatible mobos will also be cheaper than their Intel counterparts? So even more possible savings by going AMD and I doubt I would truly notice the performance difference between the 2 realistically. Both are going to be fast as hell for me.
I know AMD is easier to OC and that's great, but I don't really care to be honest. But hey if I can I may, but never did with my Intel q6600 quad core and was always happy with its performance.
So what would you pick and why?
General computer use, hoping to last me 5+ years and be one fast ass beast the entire time.
