Well I'm heading off the Microcenter to upgrade a current HTPC with light gaming (X2 250). I found a deal with the AMD 8320e ($99) and Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB mATX ($54.99-$40 ) board for $123. Reusing other parts. Does Intel have a better chip in the same price range? Probably pair it up with a Z87 board since those appear to be in the same price range as the GA-78LMT

I don't mind overclocking either chip. What do you guys recommend?

I would double check that the board you selected is compatible with the 8320e, there is the ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3 that is 44AR so after the 40 processor deal more like 5$. I just built a rig with this setup. I was presently surprised with the spunkyness of this system.

I think your only alternative in this price range would be the g3258 (which you would need to overclock like a banshee) which is $50 at MC or maybe the i3 4370 mobo bundle deal. But that will end up being $140.

Really looks like a win for AMD to me.
