Amazon Screw Up (Funny)

For whatever reason, 2 days ago and for sometime prior (I'm not sure how long, but probably not very long), Amazon.com was selling VisionTek's Xtasy 9800 PRO 256 MB for $217.88. And that is a steal considering it's pretty good to find a 128 MB version for around that price. However, now they are selling them for $483.99, possibly as an attempt to recoup their losses from the price screw up. I'm guessing this because it was the number one selling item on their site during this time. However, on the same page Amazon has the following slogan:

"Amazon.com = low prices. Did you find this item priced lower than $483.99 somewhere else? <Click here> Let us know!"

Part of me wants to fill this out and say "Yes, I did find this item for a lower price, it was on your website two days ago."

The only downside to all of this is that they are currently out of stock and backordered. So while the people who got it at this price got a sweet deal, they have to wait a little while to get the card.

hey malik, i ordered one of these before the price went back up. do you think i will be charged 400dollars? or the listed price at the time which is 217? i never ordered anything from amazon before. thx

you will be charged what it was at the time u ordered
if they change it, i am pretty shure thats illegal.

hey wanna buy some stamps for a buck,

oh they have just been changed to 500 bucks per stamp, please pay

>>

Did you print out your sale? If not, go into your account and look up that order and print it out. This is just to be on the safe side, because they're far more likely to cancel the order than charge you the new price.

yes i just print out the invioce. i hope i can get it for the price i ordered it at. thx for the info guys.

I already recieved a "price mistake, sorry, sale canceled, now bugger off" email from amazon. Figured that would happen, but a boy's got to try, right?

Hmm I still have my invoice and have received no such email from amazon telling me I'm out of luck.

Yes its illegal for them to charge you over the amount you saw...it will kinda fall into the lines of a Bait and switch which im sure anyone in retail sales is familiar with =)

a lot of sites will post a disclaimer saying they are not responsible for any price mistakes and the like..

they can cancel it which they probably will depending on the amount that was swooped up
