Anyone who is interested in a copy of Leopard should have a look at Amazon and save themselves $20 bucks.

Amazon has dropped the price of MacOS X 10.5 Leopard from $129 to $109, making it $20 cheaper than buying through the online Apple store or from a retail Apple store when it becomes available. Apple announced yesterday that Leopard will be released October 26. Oddly, the discount for the more expensive 5-license family pack is only $10.

This conversation is getting very shady and is going to get people in trouble. Running OSX on a PC is not illegal, however I really doubt many here are doing it legally. So Prolly bad place to discuss it.

Do you know if there is an article online anywhere that shows how you could run OSX on a PC legally (from a retail purchased copy of the OS)?

If I bought OSX off the shelf, then downloaded the hacked version, would that be legal also, or just morally correct?

Why not drop the price on Vista?

I'd like to see some stats on how many PC users have an Apple OS installed and running correctly... probably not even worth mentioning.

What happens when you right click a pc running osx?

The same thing that happens on a mac. While apple only gives you a one button mouse the OS does support normal USB "PC" mice. Right clicking gives you a menu similar to what you get in windows when you right click.

I don't think I have seen a Mac user actually use the included mouse for some time now. Most that I know have replaced their included mouse with a 2 button + scroll wheel mouse.

You can use a patcher for an iso ripped from your own DVD easily enough, its how people are putting Leopard beta's on PC's, but it is technically not legal since you need to get a modified kernel that runs on a PC (the kernel is not open source and therefor against the license to change). But you need access to a working install of OS X to run the patcher since it runs in terminal (command prompt for macs). Its all very trivial though and Apple seems to care less, theyve been basicaly ignoring "hackintoshes" for over a year now. If you buy the disc though then really I dont see it as any more illegal than changing the firmware on the PSP. People should have the right to do whatever they want to the stuff they buy regardless of the precious license.

That is illegal. You must be registered to be a member of the Apple Developer network to install it on your PC. AND at that point, its illegal for you to get the hacked version, but not to have it installed. Its all stupid.Drivers are iffy as well. my laptop almost fully works except 3945ABG cards don't work.

http://db.xbench.com/

Not really a statistical site, but all "intel developer transition system" computers are hackintoshes. Xbench is a popular benchmark program for OS X so a lot of people have used it to submit their score. If you look at the results a lot of people list their computers, like Dell or whatever. And theres insanelymac.com, an Apple Legal approved OSx86 community with over 123,000 members, its devoted to helping people get their PC's running OS X.

Yeah. It's like if you bought an iPhone, then you can do whatever you... wait..

You are telling me that an Apple OS that is designed to only work on Apple approved hardware has to be illegally hacked to use else where, oh wait just like the iPhone.

Next time you try to bash a company, maybe you should think about why things they way they are.

I'm ordering you a case of humor online. Expect a shipment soon.
