Alternative Sleeving?

This might seem like an odd question, and I searched first and found 0 results.

Has anyone ever used bungie cords for sleeving? If you cut the ends off and pull the rubber bands out of the nylon sleeving, it seems like it would work perfectly. And you can pick up bungie cords for a fraction of the cost of "real" sleeving. You can get a 4 pack of 18" cords for a buck at a dollar store.

If anyone has done this, let me know! I plan on trying it tonight, I'll post pics if it turns out good.

it's crap. I tried it. too thin of sleeving around the rubber. It doesn't open up enough and it's a pain in the butt to get off the rubber.

I do have a question like that and was wondering myself. What sleeving is there available to sleeve cables with the molexs still on them from the ps without taking them off?

Anyone know?

Spiral wrap or split loom.

I use 1/8" spiral wrap for all sleeving.

I just finished sleeving everything with split loom and I wish I would have used something else. It looks really cheap. Oh well, goes on easy, come off easy.

I used split loom as well. I wrapped it in tape after I was done to make it a little more "nicer" I also used wire ties to keep the loom from opening back up and having the wires "pop" back out. Worked pretty good IMO.

In all honesty though, I need a new case because mine is too small for any real wire management, I'm unable to hide the wires behind the mother board like everyone else so I ran some of it above the PS and cut a hole in one side of my drive bays to put the wires behind the drives. I'm looking into building my own case with channels for wires.

Any reasons against spending a few more dollars to getting some good sleeving? Unless of course you really like the split loom look.

I personally didn't like the split loom.

But I couldn't find sleeving I particularly liked either.

And yes, I couldn't think of anythign better than "nicer" I was drinking last night when I wrote it.

I picked up some chrome split loom at autozone for 9.99 and re-sleeved all my wires. Looks much better now. Still looks cheap, but much better than before. This will have to do until I can get a modular power supply

Colored electrical tape from Home Depot. A variety of colors to choose from, and no messing with connectors.
