I just built up a cheap computer... and it's been crashing intermittently since day one.... tried getting new drivers for everything, still no dice...

2600+ (tried clocking it down, this made is less stable, not more)
MSI KT600 LSR
512MB PC3200 (and a 256MB PC2100.. but neither makes the system stable at any speed)
Geforce 5500 (gainward branded)
Onboard sound / Network
52x liteon

I think the P/S is a 350W, and it's generic but I don't see why it would have a problem with this system....

Here's what it's doing

Failing to Install files that need decompressing... such as XP Service pack 2 etc...
Crashing on games intermittently, but I only play worms armageddon, so it's not that graphic intensive, and internet explorer crashes often..

I'm thinking maybe it's the P/S? Maybe the Motherboard? I dunno what does it seem like to you guys>

Did you try a 2700 speed RAM? Because XPs only have a 333 fsb (except for the latest but still, that is not the case here). Not only that it sounds like that it is a memory problem.

Check your ram out will Memtest86.
Thats the first thing I do with a system that is unstable.

Luck......... :D
